What is a Virtual Power Plant (VPP)?

A virtual power plant, just like a centralized solar, power plant, provide your community with the energy to power your appliances and home. Unlike a traditional centralized power plant, a virtual power plant is made by grouping lots of individual homeowners’ solar battery systems together.
Collectively, the solar battery systems can be part of the electricity supply to the community; offering a lower-cost alternative to grid upgrades or new centralized power plants.

Innovation, and collaboration between networks and customers, are at the heart of securing the future of the electricity grid and helping make energy more affordable for all. VPPs allow renewable energy to be harnessed quickly, keeping the network stable and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
